Namibia Desert, Reality and 100 Years Time Lapse:100 years of forgotten time |
Last Updated: September 10, 2005
It concerns ruins of abandoned houses in the desert in the region of Lüderitz (Namibia), left over from the time Namibia was a colony of Germany, in the beginning of the 20th Century. When the mining of Diamonds became less and less profitable, the houses where left abandoned. These houses where build in those days with the very solid "Nordic" materials and sturdy German way of constructing, rather uncommon in Africa, creating a desolate and eerie panorama in the cold, wind-swept desert. Cold because in the adjacent ocean, icy sea currents flow from the Antarctic, causing a very low water temperature without much evaporation, hence very little rain on this arid, barren land.
An eerie heritage left over where the wind and the sand played havoc with those solid buildings, creating weird realities in realities.

Ghostly pictures, speaking for themselves!

Hallucinatory contours, a blown-out, sun baken reality superimposed on the architecture and decoration of 100 years ago.
