Write or not To Write?
|
Is it appropriate to write some personal, sincere remarks to the writer of a book or to contact the builder of an Internet site?An example of a few ways you can ask and handle these questions and get true answers in communication and explore openess to life.

A) Finally, after a lot of study and learning; not writing or e-mail to the author:
In the old days of my training in Biofeedback ('79-'86), I attended as many workshops and classes as possible in England with C. Maxwell Cade, studying and practising biofeedback, meditation, learning about psycho-somatic disorders, healing and so forth. During classes I was mostly silent (at that time rather introverted), and tried to 'listen through it', instead of asking what I thought would be 'stupid questions'.
I must admit that I exchanged with Max Cade (a person I deeply admired) no more than 20-30 sentences and questions over a period of 5-6 years ! Invariably, when being at home again, the studied material showed some kind of internal life on it's own. During the days and weeks after each weekend or week-training, dreams and meditations got enriched, connected, more links were understood... and more questions arose.
There I sat. Dozens of times I decided to write a letter to Max Cade to ask to clarify some important matters. And dozens of times, I submerged myself in the available texts, books and workshop schemes anew and tried to find out the answer myself, being anxious to bother this obviously high ranking, important person. And every time, after some deeper study, I was able to find the answers myself. So, I didn't write a single letter! This is one way of handling the above stated question and the result is a deep rooted but rather slow learning process. I know only now this was a pity as he passed away suddenly in '86, without further communication possible.
B) Yes, yes, hurry up to communicate with the writer:
Another way is to read a few pages, get excited by all those intriguing new subjects and start to bombard the writer with questions that are clearly explained in some pages you didn't read yet. He will kindly and patiently respond with some clarifying words and indications where the answers can be found in the book or on the site. Although this process is far from ideal, it is much quicker, fluent and more communicative and the pupil learns in a short period of time a certain (limited?) knowledge.
C) First studying, seeking truth and learn, than communicate with the 'master':
A third way is to do the above first mentioned digging through, submerge, analyse, synthesise and - think about the matters at hand. Struggling with the material of 'the master' and reading a lot. After that, you start to feeling some doubts and remarks arising from deep within your psyche.
Real integration of new material can't be done without a cyclic occurrence of high interest and lingering doubt. If you just swallow new lessons and take them for granted, without checking it out with your own, personal system, you are simply a parrot that, at best, will reproduce the amassed 'knowledge'. When you study the material while checking it out at the same time, this new knowledge and information will become integrated with your own available background and form a unity with it.
When coming to some essence about the material inside you, and having some unclear matters, the time has come to ask something by mail or e-mail. This results in the psyche of the writer and you sharing common ground, vibrating back and forth, also coming into contact with some (morphogenetic) fields where all consciousness and knowledge about a certain subject is held (a kind of 'Cosmic Internet').
And here is a very important extra possibility with the (real) Internet. When writing to an author of a normally published 'paper book', it's not very obvious A) to know his address or B) to get an answer at all. The strain and necessary organisation behind the publishing of a book and bringing it to the market forms a formidable barrier between writer and reader. The Internet, however, is a very 'connective' way of inter-communication. E-mail is a matter of a few minutes and can be extremely trivial but can also have the same depth as a personal letter. The choice is yours.
D) The final mail:
I welcome the well thought-out or spontaneous questions that arise from a sincere, curious, learning mind. Because out of this interconnection, I learn probably as much as the correspondent learns from the response. This whole site is the result of my experiences in organising workshops, giving private sessions and listening to the questions people have. The most valuable remarks from rather critical friends and readers were the best guides in studying, preparing and writing these texts (special remark to Patrick - Belgium - 42).
Every well formulated question is a piece of jewellery. In my mind, the '?' question mark is the most creative, activating character we have. It's not a matter of being a master and a pupil, it's about two connective minds that share something through an agile medium. And the Internet is certainly suited for this.
E) The doubt:
I don't know anything about tailoring and it's still a mystery for me how a sewing machine sews. A lot of simple housewives know this very well and may also understand how the machine they are using works. But I don't feel inferior to them, just curious.
As long as you are making a distinction between the knowing and the not knowing, there will be a separation, a border, a tension. If you think there is 'high' out there, you create 'low', probably inside yourself. As long as you think the real specialists are only in big institutes, you create the inferior part within your own psyche.
I am a skilled and experienced specialist in life cycles, consciousness and '10 other things' (see extra note about these 10 items)....
So what? Just be curious, just ask.
When I will receive too much mail, I'll remove this page from the site of course!
